How this room happened

The long way round.

  1. Chapter 1

I've always ended up helping people

Whatever job I've had, I've somehow ended up either helping people or entertaining them. That's the thread running through all of it, even the bits that look like they don't belong together.

I spent about six years working in brain injury and mental health rehabilitation. Slow, patient work, sitting with people on the days that weren't going well. It taught me more about listening than any course ever has.

  2. Chapter 2

Then it got a bit wild

From there I went and learned to breathe fire. Genuinely. Which makes perfect sense when you know my ADHD brain needs excitement, and slightly less sense when you say it out loud at a party.

Then four years as a personal trainer, which was the helping and the entertaining in one job. I loved it, right up until I didn't.

  3. Chapter 3

    And then it came apart

I hit one of the hardest stretches of my life. My own mental health went, the business went with it, and I genuinely didn't know what I wanted to do next. I'll leave it there, because that part belongs to me — but it's the reason this room exists, so it doesn't feel honest to skip it.

What I do remember is the thought that finally broke the deadlock.

Fuck it. Something has got to give.

  4. Chapter 4

Back to something I'd always known

So I finally did the thing I'd been talking about doing for years, and got attuned to Reiki.

Honestly, the spiritual side was never new. I was the kid talking to the unseen, making potions, casting little spells, absolutely certain there was something bigger going on. Somewhere along the way I'd put all that down.

With each attunement I picked it back up, and went further in than I expected. That's where the seed for this place was planted.

  5. Chapter 5

The beginning of The Wellness Room

I wanted something that would sit alongside the Reiki — something hands-on — so I trained in massage and started treating people from home.

That was the whole plan at the time. It didn't stay the whole plan for long.

  6. Chapter 6

    Then Glastonbury happened

I went to Glastonbury and had a full spiritual awakening at the White Spring. I'm aware how that sounds. I also don't much care.

I came home certain I was meant to build something bigger.

  7. Chapter 7

    Nowhere felt like mine

So I started renting treatment spaces. Then another one. Then another. They were fine. None of them were mine.

I didn't want a room I borrowed by the hour — I wanted somewhere I could make entirely my own. Dark, warm, full of plants and crystals and drums. Somewhere that felt like walking into a hug.

  8. Chapter 8

    So I took the studio

When a studio came up to lease, I took it. Impulsively, if I'm honest. I've not looked back once.

That studio became The Wellness Room.

  9. Chapter 9

    It's more than a business

I built this after the darkest stretch of my life, which is why it gets all of me. It's my work, my community and the thing I pour myself into.

Deciding to do my Reiki changed the entire direction of my life. Everything this room is started there.

So when you come in: you don't have to be good at relaxing, you don't have to be spiritual, and you don't have to explain yourself. Just come as you are.

How I work.

  • Your body does the work

“I'm not the healer. Your body does the work. I just know how to help it.”

  • With your body, not against it

“Deep tissue isn't a punishment. Effective beats painful, every time.”

  • No two sessions the same

“Your body isn't copy + paste, so why would your massage be?”

No waterfall sounds. Promise.

“Respectfully, my playlist slaps.”

Say hello or see the treatments.
